I bestow upon thee, A KNIFE
Tumblr media
WAIT! Don’t just give people knives like that!
Tumblr media
Chilchuck checks his pockets for a gold coin, and gives it to you in exchange for the knife. You should never gift a knife. Always ask for something in return, anything to make it a trade. If you give someone a knife, you’ll cut your bond with them at best, and bring harm to them at worst. Always be carful with that kind of stuff, okay?

Yandere DunMeshi MBTI: Laios Touden
No one in the world requested this, I just think this man needs to be studied under a microscope and I can't quit rolling him around in my brain. Headcanons based on the Yandere MBTI indicator conceptualized by the lovely ddarker-dreams! Please send them love and feel free to request me for any characters. [Warnings: general yandere scariness]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CRUEL Vs. REVERENT Darling captures Laios's attention primarily because they are kind. They smile at his stories even if he's told them a hundred times before, they ask him questions about monsters and don't shy away when he pulls out a tome's worth of notes detailing each one. Darling always has a terrible look on their face when Laios is injured and has never once made him feel less than. To Laios, darling is the sun.
If darling is part of his party, they can expect to be doted on, fussed over, and guarded to a point where the only time they are truly alone is when bathing. Even then, Chilchuck has to constantly assure Laios that darling is absolutely fine, much to his chagrin. If they are injured or die, Laios almost becomes a different person for hours after they're revived. He's anxious, snappy, even hostile until darling can bring him back down with their calm nature.
If darling isn't in the party, they can still expect to see Laios nearly all of the time. Sometimes it doesn't quite make sense how Laios can go on so many trips to the dungeon and yet still have time to consistently be in darling's personal space on the surface. Darling can expect to receive souvenirs from the dungeon (mostly monster parts, always frightening) and letters about adventures that Laios will simply tell them again in person anyway. He'll insist on walking them home and greeting them in the morning before he leaves to the dungeons again.
AWARE VS. DELUSIONAL
All Laios knows is that the emotion he feels when the object of his affection is around seems measurably different than his love for his sister or love for his friends. Truth be told, there has always been a nagging worry at the back of his mind that he might never be able to feel for a human the way he loves adventuring or studying monsters. That he's doomed to a life of solitude surrounded by nothing that understands him. When darling comes along, they're like a beacon of light that tells Laios he's capable of being normal for once. After all, he finally feels the kind of love he's been lectured time and time again that he should be feeling at his age. A chivalrous need to protect, to treasure, to study and bring gifts and share meals and troubles and maybe, just maybe even taste and touch and devour- It's just what loving someone means.
MANIPULATIVE VS. HONEST
There is no need to manipulate darling because Laios himself doesn't feel that any of his behavior is wrong. He doesn't know how to be anything but himself, and any hint darling or others try to give him that maybe his interactions are bordering on unhealthy and obsessive don't reach him at all. If darling says they'd better get going, Laios is there to walk them home. If Marcille tries to tell Laios that darling is perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, he marvels at how talented darling is and then does nothing to change his behavior. If Namari outright tells him that he needs to give darling space, he'll nod seriously and then decide that sitting across from darling and not next to darling is sufficient. In Laios's mind, everything is perfect.
STRICT VS. LENIENT
As long as darling is safe, or what Laios deems to be safe, everything is fine. Darling can do what they want on the surface, talk to whom they want on the surface, go dungeoneering if darling is part of the party. Problems begin to arise when that sense of security wanes. The look of that gnome chatting with darling isn't one that Laios likes. As a tall-man, it's very easy to keep him from speaking to darling ever again. Darling wants to go on a trip to Kahka Brud, Laios is quick to insist that he come along. After a particularly nasty event in the dungeon, Laios might make it his mission that darling never venture beneath the surface again. Laios is harmless until threatened- that's when his brand of love becomes suffocation.

With what we know of Chilchuck's daufhter's personalities; Who do you think would each daughter get along with best among their father's party members?
Alright so we got 4 options: Laios, Marcille, Senshi and Izutsumi.
Tumblr media
Meijack
Immediately I think for Meijack it’d be Senshi. Yes yes, very ironic since she’s the only one not after his heart lol.
A lot of people consider her to be Chilchuck 2.0 but I don’t think that’s really true, she takes after her father in conscientiousness and profession yes, is the most serious and reserved of the daughters, but that’s the thing— I flip flop a bit on wether I think Chilchuck is an extrovert, introvert or just ambivert, he loves hanging out with people, but it’s distrust from past professional experiences plus boundaries due to drastic personal events that push him to avoid being open, especially since we see how cheery he used to be. With Meijack though… She’s an introvert, that’s it. She looks so so tired lmao. Chilchuck says it himself that she’s brusque/not personable. Obvi she might also have trauma that push her to be this and that way, but from what we see I think she’s just genuinely the type to stick to her business, be quiet and stick to her corner.
So why Senshi then? I think she’d gravitate towards him because he has the least overwhelming energy, Senshi can get fired up but mostly he tends to be laidback and gentle. While the others would be talking and arguing, Meijack would be sitting besides Senshi and helping him cook or tend to the fire, working in companiable silence. And if they do talk, I think they’d have nice conversations, Senshi giving life advice that affect her somewhat. Having a stable work and future is very important to Chilchuck and I’m sure he drilled that into his daughters as best as he could, so seeing Senshi thrive, the very opposite of a working responsible adult with a secure lifestyle aka an hermit hunting alone on the fringes of society, would be a wtf moment. If nothing else she’d be intrigued I think. I wasn’t even thinking of that but I do feel like she has daddy issues, if I had to write for her her arc would prob center on that, so in that way yay her getting a second, very different and uplifting father figure! 🎉 Senshi would be nothing but warm and happy to take her under his wing and chat, and much like with Chilchuck in the traps chapter would like learning a thing or two from her too.
Honorable mention to Izutsumi! I don’t think they’d hit it off which is why I didn’t pick her, but I think the people making fics about her and Izu interacting have the right idea, they’d clash at first I think especially on Izutsumi’s side since she’d see Meijack as a stick in the mud, and Meijack wouldn’t have a favorable impression either esp with how rude and irresponsible she is, but… I 100% believe that if they spent times together and got used to each other, to the point that Meijack understands Izutsumi somewhat and Izutsumi stops being prickly with her, that they’d develop an unlikely but strong companionship. Meijack’s section is already long so I’ll stop here but yes Meizu brotp
Flertom
Marcille. Next-
Ok jkjk, but also yeah I feel like this one is pretty self-evident. They share the same sort of emotive demeanor and social values, they both seemingly love gossips and romance, and most of all Flertom is very social. We see with her panel at her workplace, the tavern, that she cheerfully talks with customers, this girl is a social butterfly who loves talking and making new acquaintances. She values her family a lot as shown by her taking in her mom and sending her dad a letter alongside a gift, so they could even bond over having a broken off family or over trying to solve others’ problems hah. They’d have a grand old time getting to know each other and swapping stories (maybe even about her dad specifically) and I could totally see them starting to exchange letters even.
Honestly without reaching, the only thing I could see them arguing over is if Fler has a competitive streak, or if she’d think Marcille too uppity/academic on some occasions, but even then I think she’d appreciate Marcille’s elven princess flair and they’d both be too emotive to bottle shit up and let bad blood brew between them, althouuugh yeah they could totally give each other the silent treatment after arguing for a while hah. Chilchuck doesn’t help them reconcile, but he does tease both of them about it. They reach out to each other soon after and apologize, and laugh it off. "Haha my parents taught me what happens if you don’t communicate and aren’t willing to self-reflect and apologize haha" … Me just now realizing that maybe this is how Marcille can get the details on the wife situation and the family dynamics, tho idk at which point, on one hand I could see Flertom being pretty flippant over it but on the other I can imagine it’d be a very personal and sensitive topic. Who knows if she’s had friends to vent to about the stress of the divorce- oh pardon, "separation"— But I do think she’s the kind that it’d really help to talk it out and vent, AND YET I do think with my family hcs that Flertom tended to take it on herself to help around the house and be an emotional support glue with her sisters and would notice the strained parts about her parents’ relationship so she’d have kinda grown being able to bottle her emotions up a bit… Okok I’m done, next fr this time.
Puckpatti
Ok imo she’s the hardest to pin down, and that’s a part of why she’s my fave. Because of her being optimistic and cheerful I tend to compare her to Marcille a lot, but beyond that they aren’t all that similar, even if Puck also is interested in romance like Fler. She has a bunch of stuff that’s implied, like her working in scams, but they’re all under like, layers of interpretation. She’s shown to be cheerful and allegedly careless, happy-go-lucky, a bit of a ditzy, and although Chilchuck isn’t necessarily an accurate judge of character about it even, what we’re shown with that is that she worked selling "dragon dung" for a while and it’s implied she switches jobs regularly. What Chilchuck’s saying about her being reckless and too optimistic is probably about her not having a stable career, reliable work & income. Before the new comic from the Complete Adventurer’s Bible that was all we could glean from personality wise, but now we can see she’s also direct, and she’s emotive though not as much as Flertom, and she’s quick to scheme, not oblivious at all and sharing a conspiratorial spark with her sister. I’d describe her as laidback, here for a good time not a long time, ambtious and self-driven, and doesn’t let obstacles scare her or keep her down. She’s like….. Is she like, a cheerful Mickbell. A little scamp.
… Ok what now. Honestly Laios and Izutsumi tie with each other in my heart. I think she’d enjoy conversations with Laios and would find him fun/entertaining to be around, would like when he gets excitable and fired up. Puck seems like she might try her shot to get romantically involved with him, but maybe while doing that she sees something in him that’s worth hanging around to even if for platonic reasons, but mostly I think they’d be like friendly acquaintances. I honestly personally don’t see Puck being all that into making deep friendships, I get the sense that her life’s a lot about herself and where she wants to go next, so friendships would also be oriented towards having a fun time and not as much like, deep emotional connections. But the Izutsumi angle… Izu is the cool rebellious older sister. Izutsumi’s brutish and unruly free spirit attitude have her enraptured. She wants to hang around her because Puck thinks she’s cool and lowkey admires her, and thinks she’s fun and a good influence to have around. Finally someone who Gets It, to go on shenanigan adventures with. I think Izutsumi would also be interested by her, in a big part because unlike her party members, Puckpatti would be interested in following her as she does her thing, encouraging her in whatever she does even, unlike Chilchuck Laios and Senshi who kept trying to instill in her values and lessons and looking after her so she doesn’t do something reckless. Izutsumi notices early on that Puck’s easy to have around, nice even, and from there on Puck couldn’t get rid of the cat that took a liking to her even if she tried. Izutsumi brings her dead birds and stuff like "Hey Patti look at this isn’t it rad!" and Puck is like absolutely, you rock. Oh maybe Puck would want to run some scams together tbh, because of her ninja/stealth skills or otherwise. Anyways yes devil-may-care troublemakers duo, the bane of Chilchuck’s existence.
Tumblr media
Yeah I think Izutsumi is Chil’s fourth daughter and she should have a bond with all the daughters <3 Flertom’s the sis you go to if you need comfort, and she accepts Izu easily into their circle.
Between worrying about maybe his oldest and most serious thinking about courting Senshi (she’s not), Flertom teaming up with the nosiest and loudest friend he has and the duo of reckless agitators about to get in all kinds of trouble, Chilchuck is truly sandwiched by horror and agony.

the end of jaylark tims (and the start of something new)
A belated birthday gift for @psiroller who asked for "ems au, them being gay at chilchuck's wife's wedding (or their own)!" Please enjoy this new drabble for the Chilaios ems au. Takes place after Psiroller's beautiful Stop Smoking, We Love You!, Chilchuck's bad call and talk with Laios, chatting about their background, and Chilchuck and Laios' pining at a bar.
Chilchuck and Jaylark gradually regain their friendship after being divorced, and she and her fiance, Ned, also befriend Laios when he and Chilchuck start dating. They coparent their kids together and become close enough to plan trips as a mixed family. That friendliness is why Laios and Chilchuck are readily invited to their wedding, despite the divorce.
Happy birthday, psi, and thank you for letting me write this for you!
Rating: G/T

"How do I look?"
Chilchuck glances over to Laios, who is still standing uncertainly in the bathroom of their hotel room, staring at himself in the mirror. "What did you say, Laios?"
Laios steps out into the rest of the room, having traded out his usual shift commander white shirt and cargo pants for a nice charcoal suit and tie. Chilchuck gives what he hopes is an encouraging smile, "You look really good."
Laios pauses and walks over to sit down next to him. He could see through Chilchuck's brave face to the tension in his shoulders and tightness of his jaw. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, of course." Chilchuck replies brusquely. Laios reaches out. His hand covers Chilchuck's own. Chilchuck's brows unfurrow and he sighs, lacing their fingers together. Laios squeezes. "We don't have to go right now, if you don't want. Sneak in right before the ceremony, or hang out with the girls instead of visiting Ned."
Chilchuck cracks a wry smile. "Are you kidding? He's going to have a heart attack if we don't tell him what's going on."
"He'll be okay, I can text him." Laios shrugs. "Jay won't expect to see either of us until the reception, we have options."
Chilchuck sighs and shakes his head. "Nah, I want to go. I don't really want to run into her family, feeling like a failure. But they're my friends, our friends, and they're getting married."
"Yeah." Laios waits, quietly. Chilchuck turns towards him. He does look very handsome. He and Chilchuck had gone shopping for suits together for the wedding, Laios' first formal event since he moved out from his parents' house, and Chilchuck's first since Puckpatti's baptism. Back then, he had a pure black suit and white shirt; this time around, he was talked into a grey a few tones lighter than Laios’ own. Chilchuck squeezes his hand back. "I love you."
Laios makes a quick, excited whine in the back of his throat and leans in. Chilchuck meets him for a kiss. The separation of their lips is audible in the quiet room. "...Let's get going, I don't want to leave Ned hanging. And you look great."
"You too." Laios bumps their shoulders together, and Chilchuck snorts. He bumps him back, harder and faster, attached from hand to shoulder like two survivors in a stormy ocean. "We need to put on our shoes."
"Mhm." Laios doesn't move, rubbing his thumb against Chilchuck's own. It's peaceful. Too peaceful, for the morning of a wedding. Chilchuck cranes up to peck another kiss to Laios' (conveniently lowered to easier reach) cheek with one more hand squeeze. "C'mon, we can sit quietly once we make sure Ned isn't going to have an aneurysm."
“He’d better not,” Laios speaks with a joking weariness, “We’re off-duty, no emergencies allowed.”
Neither of them were a part of the wedding party; it was already socially precarious for Chilchuck to be invited to his ex-wife's wedding, and he vetoed it the moment Ned, Jaylark’s awkward geeky fiance that eagerly befriended his future coparents a few years ago, brought up the idea. "That's the number one way to get the inlaws on your bad side, I can promise you that."
So, instead they arrived a few hours before the ceremony to say hi, and offer to do any last minute errands that they might need. Ned looked understandably overwhelmed and excited to see them and gave them both a huge, sweaty hug. Laios laughed and patted him on the shoulder, “Congratulations, man!”
“Thanks, guys, for being here and everything.” Ned’s mouth runs a mile a minute, “I know it’s been crazy, Jay and I are just so grateful.”
“Sure thing,” Chilchuck ends the hug to look around the room at the less nervous but still haggard-looking groomsmen, “I figure we can pick up any of the girls who don’t want to do the girly wedding stuff and hang outside for a little, maybe grab something to eat. Have you guys eaten? Lunch, snacks?”
They are met with blank stares, and Chilchuck crosses his arms.
“I haven’t been hungry, sorry. I feel like I’d throw up anything I ate now.” Ned wrings his hands.
He does look put together and ready to go, if only he would stop being so nervous; a feat of mental fortitude Chilchuck knew to be impossible for the man. “Well, I’m going to go get you all something, before you go up to the altar. Doesn’t matter how nervous you are, you don’t want to pass out during your vows from low blood sugar.”
That’s how they ended up with Puckpatti in tow, driving to the nearest deli with sandwich platters they could pick up. “Chil, do you want me to wait for the sandwiches, you and Puckpatti go grab some sodas or something?”
Chilchuck takes the key out of the ignition, glancing at his partner, “Sure, divide and conquer. That sound okay, back seat?”
Puckpatti gives a thumbs up, putting her hand-me-down gameboy from Mei to the side. “Okay!”
Laios glanced over, “Do you think Jaylark needs any sandwiches?”
“I doubt it. This isn’t her first rodeo.” Chilchuck comments before glancing in the mirror to Puckpatti, “What do you think, Puck? Should I ask your mom if she needs something to eat?”
She thinks for a moment. “Yeah, maybe!”
Chilchuck sighs and pulls out his phone, sending a quick text to his ex-wife, Hey, going to pick up a sandwich platter for the guys, can I get you ladies one too?
He puts his phone back in his pocket and opens the door, stepping out of the car, hearing the slamming of the other doors as Laios and Puckpatti both step onto the pavement of the strip mall parking lot. Jay and Ned ended up booking a venue a few hours from the city for the wedding, closer to Ned’s family who insisted on celebrating like this wasn’t Jaylark’s second marriage, protesting that since it was Ned’s first, the whole extended family needed to be there. And there should be flowers, a full ceremony at a chapel, and since they’ve already traveled this far, why not a full reception with a well-stocked bar?
It quickly went beyond the simple ceremony and lunch they had originally planned, but aside from normal wedding stress, there was no denying the excitement and love coming from all directions. Laios and Chilchuck both took a couple of days off to make a weekend of it, both to take their own vacation and spend time with Jay and Ned before snagging the girls for the rest of their honeymoon. It’s still surreal, Chilchuck thinks as he stands in the drinks aisle with Puckpatti picking sodas, that he’s here helping with his ex-wife’s wedding, and he’s excited to do it. He pulls a six pack of ginger ale cans into his cart before looking down. “What do you think, Puck?”
She stares at the options, thoughtfully. “Coke, Sprite, ummmmm…can we get the orange soda?”
“Those sound like great choices.” Chilchuck pulls them off the shelves and drops them into the cart. “Can you grab me a Monster from the other shelf?”
“Don’t you want to pick it, so it’s the flavor you like?”
“Nah, it’s for me and Laios to share. You’re good at picking drinks he likes.”
She nods and darts off, becoming immersed in the task of picking an energy drink from the plethora of wild flavors. Chilchuck goes for the next can of sodas, not filling the cart but getting enough for both wedding party to have some options. His phone rings. Jaylark. He answers.
“What’s up?”
“I got your text.”
“Good, do you need anything? I’m at the grocery store with Puck.”
“Sandwiches are good, but Ned’s sister is a vegetarian, can you get some that are meatless?”
“Sure thing, and we’ll bring some sodas. Anything from here? Ice, bandaids, drinks?”
“…I don’t think we need anything else.”
“Got it.”
“Thanks, Chil.”
Chilchuck smiles, “I’m really happy for you, Jay.”
There is a moment of silence, “Me too.”
“As you should be, it is your wedding! Let me call Laios and tell him about the vegetarian sandwich, we’ll be back in a few.”
“Right, sounds good, I’ll see you then, just text when you get back.”
“Mhm, will do.”
He hangs up and calls Laios to tell him the news.
Nobody passes out at the altar. Laios and Chilchuck abandon the girls, who sit on the front row, to find anonymity in the crowd further back. Laios pays rapt attention, “I haven’t been to a normal wedding since, I dunno, when Dan got hitched in his backyard.”
“Mhm? There’s no way that was a normal wedding.” Chilchuck gripes, whispering back, “It’s not anything too exciting to be honest, the best part is the reception.”
Jaylark tears up at the vows, and everyone claps when Ned kisses the bride. Chilchuck can’t help but compare the whole thing to their haphazard teen wedding years ago, thrown together when they realized Jay was pregnant. There was love there too, naive and nervous and hopeful, with a different Chilchuck and Jaylark than they are now. He leans against Laios, who holds his hand and squeezes as the bride and groom process down the aisle with genuine joy in their eyes.
“Laios, Chilchuck, stay nearby for a picture?” Not Ned, but one of his groomsmen interrupts their escape from the chapel, and Chilchuck glances at Laios in surprise, getting only clueless blinking from his companion. “Is that not okay?” Laios questions, unaware of what an oddity it would be to have a wedding picture including your ex-husband.
“I mean, if they want it, sure. Getting wedding pictures with your ex-husband and his boyfriend is not normal procedure. I figured I would have at least a vape break before the reception started.”
“You can still get that, after pictures.” Laios teases with a nudge. Chilchuck drops into his side at the touch, and Laios drapes an arm over his shoulder. “You’re going to wrinkle your suit.” Chilchuck mumbles, “They’re going to have to photoshop that out of the wedding photos.”
“Yeah.” Laios agrees cheerfully. Chilchuck sighs and hooks his arm around Laios’ waist.
Laios sighs, “This is nice.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah. What about you?”
Chilchuck pokes him in the side, getting a ticklish flinch, “It’s pretty good.”
“Get a room, dad.”
They both lock eyes with Mei, who opted for a dress shirt and pants in the same sage green as the bridesmaids dresses. She jerks her thumb over her shoulder. “You’re up, for a family shot.”
That gets them untangling and stepping up past the photographer, congratulations repeated quietly while they got into position, the girls standing in front while Laios, Chilchuck, Jaylark, and Ned are in the back.
“Are you sure you want an exes picture at your wedding?” Chilchuck leans over to Jaylark to murmur.
She tilts her head to whisper back, “Just take the picture, Chil.”
“Okay, copy that.” He smiles at the camera, arm around Laios on one side and Jaylark at the other. It’s surreal, but over in an instant. He follows Laios’ lead, and hugs Jaylark, then Ned, “Congratulations again, I’ll see you guys inside.”
“Thanks, Chil, Laios. See you.” Jaylark responds.
“Bye, Dad and Laios!” Flertom chirps, waving as Laios and Chilchuck wander off towards the parking lot.
“See you later!” Laios answers her wave with his own.
He looks over to Chilchuck, “Ready for your vape break now?”
Chilchuck shoves him and keeps walking to the car.
They snuck off and took a break from all the festivities, driving Flertom, Meijack, and Puckpatti back to the hotel after they were done with wedding pictures to relax in the room for a couple of hours, when the only wedding-based entertainment would be socializing and drinking. Everyone ended up crowded around Laios as he took over Mei’s switch to beat one of the Cuphead levels that she had gotten stuck on for a few days. Chilchuck snuck a candid shot of them, Laios on the floor with the twins hovering over his shoulders from the bed, while Puckpatti needed to strain her neck to peek at the screen while sitting next to him on the floor until she got drowsy and fell asleep against his side. “You’re stuck there now, Laios.”
He flushes and grins towards Chilchuck, “I can’t blame her, it’s been a long day for me too.”
“And you haven’t even gotten to the party yet.” Chilchuck adds the image to a text message in their Parents Group Chat, sending it silently for the newlyweds to see later. Laios swallows nervously, “It’s going to be fun. And Ned said there’s a lot of room outside, if we need to take a break.”
“He’s a smart guy.” Chilchuck replies, pleased, “You guys really are good friends.”
“He’s your friend too, you know.” Laios shoots back.
“Yeah, somehow.” Chilchuck sighs.
Laios stares back down at the game, “Makes perfect sense to me.”
“Yeah?” Chilchuck leans back, “Well maybe you’re biased.”
“If it were just bias, you wouldn’t be here too.”
Chilchuck doesn’t have an immediate response to that, and Flertom whistles, “He got you there, dad.”
“Turning my own kids against me…” Chilchuck accuses Laios, jokingly disappointed, and both Meijack and Flertom jump in to protest their apparent exclusion from this conversation. Laios laughs as he finishes the level.
Everyone had laughed when Jaylark was egged on to throw the bouquet, after the first dance of the new couple (there was no mother son or father daughter dance; it felt out of place to begin with, and it was left on the cutting room floor when trying to merge a second wedding with a first). Chilchuck didn’t think that she would play along, too mature for a frivolity like tossing the bouquet, that wasn’t the Jaylark he was married to years ago, and cracked a bemused smile when she stood up to throw it.
Except, then she didn’t. After faking out the gaggle of onlookers who were ready to fight over the floral arrangement, she walked through the crowd, searching the seats, until their eyes met. Chilchuck feels like he sees the teenager he was so in love with when she gives him a mischievous smirk and walks towards his table.
She stops in front of him and he wishes he could melt into the floor, “What are you doing?” He whisper-yells to her.
“A favor for my friends.” She thrusts the flowers into his hands and he has no choice but to accept it.
There is the sound of Laios’ chair scraping behind him, and that’s when he realizes he’s been duped.
His heart is already beating in his ears as he turns to face him, boyfriend on one knee with the face he gets when he’s determined to hold himself together. He’s holding a ring pinched in his fingers. With everything he’s seen in his life, Chilchuck considers himself to be very calm under the most stressful situation. Which is why it was so shocking when tears welled up in his eyes and a lump caught in his throat.
Laios exhales, psyching himself up, “Chil, being your boyfriend has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I love being a part of your family, and being a part of your life. Please make me the happiest…or second happiest, man here tonight? And marry me?”
The question is barely out of his mouth before Chilchuck is laughing through his tears, “Yes, you idiot, of course.”
He catches Laios when he jumps forward to kiss him, his large arms wrapping tightly around his shoulders. “I can’t believe you did that at my ex-wife’s wedding.” He murmurs into Laios’ ear as the polite claps from Jaylark’s family are drowned out by the whoops from Ned’s relatives.
Laios just captures his mouth again, grin ever present against Chilchuck’s lips. Chilchuck keeps waiting to wake up, back in his bed alone, on the verge of losing his job or pining quietly for his young handsome supervisor as he dates other handsome young men, but this isn’t a dream.
Laios squeezes him in his arms and kisses his cheek. “Sorry, I’m just so happy. I didn’t mean to make you upset.”
“I’m not upset, I’m.” Chilchuck holds him, gripping the fabric of his shirt in his fist, “Stuff like this isn’t supposed to happen to me.”
“It isn’t supposed to happen to me either. I can’t believe it.” Laios tucks his face into Chilchuck’s neck, and inhales sharply, voice tight. “I never thought I would meet someone who makes me as happy as you.”
“You idiot, now we’re both crying, at Jaylark’s wedding.” Chilchuck bites out against Laio’s temple.
Laios leans back, holding out the ring–a plain band, like a wedding ring; Chilchuck likes the way it looks on his finger, likes the way it makes him feel. The reception has long since continued behind them, tables emptying onto the dance floor as the rest of the crowd starts to lose themselves in the rhythm and forget about the proposal of friends of the bride and groom. Laios and Chilchuck stay sitting there, the surreal feeling of the whole event reaching a new peak as the idea of their own wedding and the chance to call each other husband really starts to sink in. Chilchuck knows it won’t truly sink in for months, years, maybe.
Laios’s eyes keep drifting from the ring back up to Chilchuck’s face, the gaze of a man who spent his life being told that there was something wrong with this feeling and he would never find this happiness, still trying to believe that it is real. Even though he was the one who started it. Chilchuck bumps their heads together. “I have one for you too, back in the hotel room. I still can’t believe you proposed tonight. I was going to do it in a couple of days.”
Laios looks like he’s won the world, and Chilchuck knows he’s the one who already has. Laios stumbles to his feet, still holding Chilchuck’s hand, “Do you want to dance?”
Chilchuck groans and gets to his feet, wiping at any tears still clinging to the corners of his eyes. “Only for you, kid.”

Ok let me break this down PICTURE by PICTURE
Starting off…
We start off with them moving in to their new home while having a light chat while setting in some boxes, ready to spend their life here. The shelves are empty but we know for a fact they’ll be full of things. The colors are warm and simple, judging by the window I’d like to assume it’s evening?
Now the second photo
We see Laios party and Chils daughters! (hiiii kabru) I’d like to think of this one as a “We officially unpacked every box!” kind of party. Friends and family are happy that chil and senshi found a place they can settle, this is definitely the liveliest of the bunch, the light beige background gives a sense of happiness for our duo. Though at night, it’s still a wonderful time to celebrate.
FINAL Third photo! (I’m delusional)
One thing I noticed was the weight they both gained!! AHHHHHHH THE DUNGEON DAYS ARE OVER❤️❤️❤️
Back on topic, we see Senshi give a loving morning kiss to his husband, as Chil replies with a loving look as he writes. (CHILSHI MARRIAGE + TAXES) He prepared breakfast for the both of them. (The same breakfast he made when they were in the golden country!) However, we notice that chils hair is starting to lose its auburn color a bit, showing that he is indeed aging, while Senshi didn’t have a singular atom altered. The background is surprisingly a thistle green! I’m a huge fan of color of the sky behind the window!
Fourth image…
First thing that caught my eye was the grey background, I already don’t trust the mood. *sigh* Anyways, we see Chils kids alongside Izutsumi as well. (adopted daughter argue with a wall) Senshi now sports small forehead wrinkles!! As for Chilchuck…he’s an old half-foot. Now he has fully silver hair alongside a wrinkled face, but at least he has his iconic green neck warmer! Current the lovebirds hold each other close with company of friends and family. I like to think that they’re discussing for what might happen for when Chilchuck passes? Maybe a will for the three daughters? Though it could just be a casual meetup? Judging by Flertoms crying (notice how she’s married lol) I think it’s more of a serious talk kind of thing, but not too serious as I sense some lightheartedness here. I almost forgot the sky! It seems to be early afternoon? But they’re still together, they’re still here. They still have time, and they’re cherishing it.
Fifth and final image.
The first thing that caught my eye was the sky, in every other photo it had some sort of gradient to it, always shared with another color. However this time, it’s a mist color. Devoid of warmth, just pure mist, it feels almost empty. Alongside the color of the room itself, it’s now a pastel grey. (likely a sad cloudy day) Going to the main focus, we see Senshi, with a mug in hand which I can only assume is coffee. He finally obtains grey hairs that his husband would never see, he also wears Chilchuks neck warmer, he also his ring is so visible here I like how when I look at Senshi here I instantly notice the ring. Personally I like to think of this as a gift alongside the house, since Senshi is an outcast dwarf he wouldn’t have been able to buy a house. Likely leaving it in his name after passing, knowing that he’ll live in it longer than he could. He gives a solemn look to the empty chair where the half-foot should’ve resided, but he’s not there, he’s long gone. One spent their loving someone while the other spends it missing someone. At this point of time I like to think that he’s come to terms with it, there are times where he spends minutes looking at certain places where his lover resided in the house. One thing notice how the table never lost it’s color, it definitely went though some shades while Senshi and Chilchuck also kept theirs. I like to think since they would likely always eat there, it kinda left a mark. A sense of familiarity to Senshi, a reminder of the one he loved most. But hey, that’s just my thoughts. Maybe the things that have color have love within them or set as a reminder for the good times, and if you’re daring…the things that have color rounds back to Chilchuck in a way, a flashing memory that has his beloved inside them. (That last image will be living in my mind rent free and my therapist WILL be hearing about you)
Last thoughts.
In conclusion I really love this little story, as if I could get time to recover from the comic saber made, this comes barging in and made me cry actually tears for these characters. The style reminds me of pixar concept art for their movies…have I mentioned how short and bittersweet this is? It’s short and bittersweet. Have I said that? I’m going insane.
And ONE last thing, I noticed how in almost every photo Chilchuck is on the left, and in the last one Senshi stares at the chair. So I got curious and…
Tumblr media
This.
It’s like he’s reminiscing of the day they first moved in. Wishing he could relive it again, but now it’s a memory, a cherished one, or maybe it could be his spirit. Not truly there but he could probably sense something, it’s likely all in his head but it was the thought that counts. He isn’t there, not anymore, but his love will be there until the end. The love they shared in this will never dwindle, not even time itself could make it erode. If he were there he’d tell him to cheer up, he’s a strong dwarf that helped conquer a dungeon. When his time is over they’ll meet again and share their favorite wine once again, or maybe…it could the time where he saw Chilchucks best smile. Making a core memory of how happy he was to share a life with Senshi. Now, it’s likely this wasn’t intentional and I’m just looking WAYYYYYY too deep into this, but one can think. And for the title, I think it’s Chilchuck saying this for sure. He grew old with Senshi, but Senshi didn’t grow old with him, but he tried his best, and I think Chilchuck is okay with that. Even when it’s Senshi’s time to leave this world, their house will still be full of love.
Again, this was a very heartwarming and gut wrenching lsfneoddj my eyes are tearing up and I can’t see the keyboadr uhhh great art, this moved my soul and the usage of of colors and backgrounds is dangerously beautiful and have meaning. Have a great day, night, afternoon, evening. Thanks again for making this AND YOU’RE EVIL FOR THAT REBLOG IDC

chat it happened
time to post my bullshit.
OK SO!! where to even start?
Marcille decides, one day, that Chilchuck isn't well enough defended. She knows that he has naturally low mana, but she wants him to be able to defend himself. Thus, she sits him down for a talk and a lesson.
She just wants to start by gaging his mana, telling where his strengths lie.
As it turns out, Chilchuck has a LOT more mana than the average half-hoot. It only really brings him to the level of an average tall-man, but it's significantly more than Marcille thought she'd be working with.
So they start figuring out what kind of magic Chilchuck would be best suited to-- Chilchuck insists on no healing and nothing combative. They settle instead on something more Chilchuck's style-- Sound Manipulation.
Marcille almost insists on something "more useful", but Chilchuck says that if she wants to teach him, she'll do it on his terms.
As it turns out, Chilchuck has perfect pitch (90% of half-foots do, actually, but Marcille doesn't know that)! So Marcille doesn't have to waste time with teaching him anything about music, or even about sound. In fact, it almost seems like Chilchuck is teaching himself...
Marcille is the primary teacher for how to harness magic and use mana and direct energy, but it seems once she's done that, Chilchuck needs no guidance. He's just trying to learn how to do what he needs for his... plan? System? It's unsure what he's up to.
Marcille eventually runs out of things to teach him that he hasn't figured out himself-- and Chilchuck, for someone who was so resistant to learning at first, seems to be thriving with it. Marcille can't always hear what's happening, but since creating and developing his little system of sound, he's been using it regularly-- he uses it to support fights, to navigate, to identify enemies, stun opponents, and even charm monsters... or just create some music for the party.
The problem with all of that being that he refuses outright to ask for mana when he needs it, and gets grouchy when Marcille gives it to him, insisting that he doesn't need it, that Marcille keep it, because she needs it more.
This leads to a gift-- a small mana charm in the form of an earring, which stores extra mana he can use in case he runs out and helps him replenish his own faster. (Chilchuck was almost tempted to be offended at the fact it was an earring, but he was so touched he took it and put it on without complaint.)
ok now ask me how the sound magic system chilchuck uses works. ask me. ask me. please. please. i need to talk about it. please. please. pl
if this post gets one like i'll post about my magic user chilchuck AU

*I hand him a copy of scream on DVD*
Happy halloween! This movie's pretty scary, but it's also kind of a mystery...
Tumblr media
Oh, thank you! Not knowing the difference between CDs and DVDs, he pops the DVD in his CD player. A horrible screeching sound can be heard, and he quickly shuts it off.
Tumblr media
You weren’t kidding, that is pretty scary.

Would you like an empanada? I made too many.
*I hand him a plateful of Mendoza empanadas, which is a handheld puff pastry dish with onions, bell peppers, ground beef, an olive, and a hardboiled egg folded inside of them. I also offer him the recipe card if he wants it.*
Hey, these are pretty good. Thank you! He takes the recipe card as well. I bet my wife would really like these.

Mister Chilchuck, here, have this *hands him a bouquet of flowers* I had been giving a few bouquets to everyone, and I believe you hadn't received yours, so I'll personally give them to you. A token of our friendship! I already made sure some of your other old party members had theirs too
